Antalya

There are few locations in this world you could choose to go on vacation to which are more beautiful and majestic than Antalya in Turkey. Being the host to nearly 8 million tourists on a yearly basis, the afore-mentioned city happens to be the most popular destination for vacation in Turkey, and not without any reason. The truth is that there are actually various attractions and sights to see for those who feel brave enough (and have the required budget) to fly over the ocean and visit Antalya.

Antalya

The first and possibly most popular attraction is the Kaleici which is basically the center of the ancient city, still standing between city walls which were built in Roman times. It proves to be a somewhat busy place with all the various restaurants, cafes and souvenir shops open there and it can sometimes get a little crowded seeing as how the area consists mostly of long and narrow streets. The ancient city also has a connection to the harbor, which can also make for quite a visit.

Second of all, you can go ahead and take a look at the Antalya Archeological Museum. Antalya is a city with more history than most people will study in their entire lives, being an extremely active trade center under the Romans, Byzantines and even the Ottomans. There are more than 5000 various artistic artifacts which are on display for visitors, with more than 13 grandiose halls for you to look at. Some of the more breathtaking moments include observing the Bronze Age tombs as well as walking through the Hall of Emperors and admire the beauty and detail of roman sculpture.

If you are feeling up for something completely different from what you would do in your city, then perhaps you may want to take a glance at the Antalya Aspendos theater, with Aspendos being a small and ancient city located near Antalya. The Theater was built during Roman times in honor of Aurelius Antonius, and has a seating capacity for as much as 16,000 people. Of course, the theater is still open nowadays and serves as a host for various ballets and operas every years.

If you are more into the natural side of things and would like to do some more sightseeing, then you may want to take a small detour to the countryside and pay a visit to the waterfalls and caves of Antalya in the Duden, Kursunlu and Manavgat regions. If you want to visit these places, make sure to get proper instructions from your guide first.

When it comes to things to do in Antalya, you have the choice of partaking in one of many sea sports such as sailing, diving and rafting. If on the other hand you prefer to do some exercise and stay dry you can always take a trip to the mountains and do some biking, hiking, camping, or even skiing depending on your location. If you feel like simply relaxing and enjoying your vacation, there are more than enough clubs, bars, high-class restaurants and entertainment establishments to cater to your needs.
